This 7th mag globular cluster is about 15.1 arc minutes in diameter, more than half the diameter of the full moon. At its distance of 16,000 light years, this corresponds to a diameter of 70 light years. Its bright core, however, is only little more than half as large. It is receding at 69 km/sec.
